Program Overview

The Master of Arts in International Relations of Eelam, offered by the Yalpanam School, is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of international relations with a particular focus on Eelam. This program covers essential theories, global political dynamics, regional integration, and specific issues relevant to Eelam and Sri Lanka. Through this curriculum, students will gain the analytical skills and knowledge necessary to navigate and influence Eelam’s position in global affairs.

Courses:

Theories of International Relations: This course provides a foundational understanding of the key theories in international relations, such as realism, liberalism, constructivism, and critical theories. Students will learn to apply these theories to analyze the foreign policies and international interactions of Eelam.

Great Power Politics and Eelam: Focuses on the dynamics of great power politics and their impact on Eelam. The course examines the strategies and interests of major powers such as the United States, China, Russia, and the European Union in relation to Eelam.

Multipolarity and Eelam: Analyzes the shift towards a multipolar world order and its implications for Eelam. Students will explore how Eelam navigates relationships with multiple global and regional powers in a multipolar context.

International Law and Eelam: Examines the relevance and application of international law to Eelam. Topics include state sovereignty, human rights, international treaties, and the role of international organizations in shaping Eelam’s legal landscape.

Eelam and the South Asia Region: Explores Eelam’s security, economic, and political relations within the South Asian region. The course covers regional integration, security cooperation, and Eelam’s role in organizations such as SAARC.

The Geopolitics of Eelam: Investigates the strategic geographic and political factors that influence Eelam’s international relations. Students will study how Eelam’s location impacts its security, trade, and diplomatic strategies.

International Development and Eelam: Focuses on the theories and practices of international development as they pertain to Eelam. The course examines development challenges, aid effectiveness, and Eelam’s strategies for achieving sustainable development.

International Political Economy and Eelam: Analyzes the global economic system and its impact on Eelam. Topics include trade, finance, globalization, and economic policy, with a focus on how Eelam engages with the international economy.

Eelam’s Diaspora and International Relations: Examines the role of the Eelam diaspora in shaping international perceptions and policies. The course covers diaspora politics, transnational networks, and the influence of Eelam communities abroad.

Foreign Policy Dynamics: Eelam and Sri Lanka: This course provides an in-depth analysis of the foreign policies of various countries toward Eelam and Sri Lanka, as well as the foreign policies formulated by the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam, local politicians in Eelam, and the Sri Lankan government. The course explores the strategic, economic, and political motivations behind these policies and their impacts on regional and global relations.
