Short-Course Lectures

Introduction to the Eelam Question

This introductory lecture provides an overview of the Eelam question, setting the stage for the rest of the course. Students will be introduced to the historical background, key concepts, and major stakeholders involved in the Eelam issue. Topics include the definition and significance of the Eelam question, the historical context of Tamil presence in Sri Lanka, and the initial grievances that led to demands for autonomy. This lecture will provide a foundational understanding of the complexities and importance of the Eelam question in the broader socio-political landscape.

Nationhood and Self-Determination

This lecture examines the fundamental concepts of nationhood and self-determination as they pertain to Eelam. From Federalism to Separatism

The War of Independence
